Fox News published an article about two Missouri Western football players that saved a toddler trapped inside a hot car. On August 23, the two players were headed home after practice when they noticed a lady beating on the window of a car. They deiced to turn around and see if they could help her out. When they came up to the car, they noticed that there was a child inside. The woman had accidentally locked her 17-month-old grandson in the car. It was 95 degrees that day and the toddler was crying and getting sick. One of the players finally broke one of the windows out of the car and they were able to rescue the child. The toddler was a little dehydrated, but was otherwise okay thanks to the heroic acts of two football players.
I have to admit that this article warmed my heart. I love stories like these that have a happy ending.
When I first saw the title of this article, I was intrigued. It is not everyday that you hear stories like these. I thought that it was a neat thing that these two college football players saw a lady in distress, decided to turn around, and in the end the saved a life. The two men could have easily drove past the lady and thought that someone else could help her out. However, they deiced to be selfless and turn around. I enjoyed this article because you don't find to many stories of selfless acts anymore. It seems like the media is just consumed with self-centered events, stories, and entertainment. I will say that I have enjoyed reading about the many selfless acts that have taken place due to the tornado, however. It has been neat to see the countless number of individuals who have stopped what they were doing in order to help and serve others. There are so many times that I wish that I was more like this. I catch myself being so concerned with "me" that I forget to stop and serve. It is so easy to focus on yourself, your needs, comforts, and wants. However, when you step outside yourself and begin to serve others, your whole world changes.
Next time when you see someone in need will you just act like you never saw it, or will you choose to stop and make a difference?
I totally agree with you on how the media only discusses negative stories and how refreshing it is to hear about people helping others in their time of need. God must of spoke to those boys because in this day and age we don't stop to help for many reasons; 1 being we just don't know if someone is really in trouble or if it is a ploy to hurt or mug us. I am so happy that everything worked out and the baby is still here today!
