Bye Bye Albert

Fox News published an article recently about Albert Pujols.  The news was finally released that Albert Pujols will be leaving the St. Louis Cardinals.  Exactly six weeks after leading the Cardinals to a second title in one of the most thrilling World Series ever, Pujols decided to accept the second-highest contract in baseball history for a new future in southern California with the Los Angeles Angels.  Pujols signed with the Angels for $254 million for 10 years.  Albert Pujols could have been a wealthy St. Louis Cardinal for the rest of his life.  However, he choose to do a different path.  Had Pujols stayed in St. Louis, he would probably had his own statue outside the baseball park along those of Bob Gibson and Stan Musial.  Pujols has turned away from having a legacy as a loyal, outstanding modern star and will now be playing for a new team.

This article makes me very upset.  I was very frustrated when I heard the news about Albert Pujols leaving the Cardinals.

I have to admit that I was very upset, mad, frustrated, and let down when I heard the news about Albert Pujols leaving the St. Louis Cardinal.  I just don't see how someone could do that.  After having such an amazing season this past year with the Cardinals and being a Cardinal for so long, I just don't understand why anyone would leave.  Albert was going to be wealthy and popular in St. Louis.  However, I guess the wealth that he had was just not enough.  I get so frustrated when I hear stories like this.  No one has any loyalty anymore.  They are more worried about money than they are being loyal to one certain team and building a legacy in one place.  It has all has come down to money these days.  I may be wrong, but I am going to venture to guess that once he moves out to California to play baseball, he will never be the same.  I don't think he is going to last 10 more years anyway.  He is getting up in age for a baseball player these days.  I think that he will probably go to the Angels and then never be the same player that he was in St. Louis.  I just don't understand why he couldn't suck it up for a few more years making however many millions in St. Louis and finish in the place he became great.  Oh well, life goes on and I will eventually get over it.  I just wish that this never even had to happen.

What do you think about this whole ordeal?  Do think Albert was right in leaving St. Louis or do you think he needs to be loyal to the team that he flourished with?
